Books on tape work for Ohio Senator Rob Portman. CNN reports that Portman, one of the leading boring white guy candidates to become Mitt Romney’s running mate before Mitt settled on Paul Ryan, will play Obama in upcoming debate preparations with Romney. You may remember Rob Portman from the role of Barack Obama in debate prep sessions with John McCain in 2008. Portman’s and Romney’s first verbal sparring match will occur this weekend, the first of more than a half-dozen, according to the Times. Describing how he honed his version of Obama, Portman said, “I read his book. I did the audiotape because I wanted to hear his voice. I listened to the entire book. It was helpful to get his cadence.” Uh, it was impossible not to read that in Obama’s voice, right?
