Quote of the Day: Karl Rove

DALLAS, TX - APRIL 12: Karl Rove, former Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Policy Advisor to U.S. President George W. Bush, prepares to lead a panel discussion at The 4% Project Conference on April 12, 2011 at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. The economic conference, sponsored by the George W. Bush Presidential Center, intends to increase awareness of public policies and private business strategies that increase opportunity and prosperity for Americans. I love everything about this quote, from the lack of self-awareness to the odd timeline:

“Since 1994, concerns about deficits and unsustainable entitlements have grown enormously,” said Karl Rove, the former George W. Bush adviser.

Literally true! Of course, the budget deficit completely disappeared from 1994 to 2001, in time for Rove's administration to revive it. Bush inherited a budget that was in surplus at an economic peak and a medium-sized deficit at its trough to one running a medium-sized deficit at peak and trillion-dollar-plus deficit at trough.

In related news, Aurora, Colorado, resident James Holmes notes that, since early 2011, theater safety concerns have grown enormously.
