Romney Decides to Get on Top of This Bain Story

IN FLIGHT - JANUARY 04: Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (C) talks with campaign advisors Stuart Stevens (L) and Eric Fehrnstrom on a chartered airplane after departing Des Moines, Iowa, January 4, 2012 while en route to Manchester, New Hampshire. Romney beat former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum by only eight votes in Tuesday's "first in the nation" Iowa Caucuses. (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images) Who's handling Bain — you? You? Okay, we need somebody.

Mitt Romney, reports Ben Smith, is hiring veteran Republican staffer-lobbyist Michele Davis "to lead a vigorous effort to defend his career in the private sector." Want to know which campaign is "winning" the debate over how to define Mitt Romney's business career? It's probably the campaign that isn't just now hiring a high-profile staffer to relaunch its message.
