Intentional Second Avenue Subway Explosion Exploded a Bit Too Hard

The ground shook on East 72nd Street today, breaking the windows of an art gallery, when someone screwed up again while working on the mythic Second Avenue subway line. “We were doing a controlled blast,” an MTA spokesperson told the Times, “when clearly something went awry and an explosion was felt at street level.” This thing is going spectacularly so far — keep up the good work, everyone. We’re almost there. Update: Here are some insane pictures taken at the moment of impact. Somehow no one was hurt.
