Two weeks ago, Star attained sad local fame after she was shot in the head by NYPD officers in the East Village and somehow survived. She was treated by Animal Care & Control, who's been taking care of her ever since (with the help of $10,000 from its Special Treatment and Recovery Fund.) A spokesman for the organization told us her health is "improving," though she's "still resting and not up for visitors at this time." (They also sent along the new, much less gruesome above.) Because her owner has not come forward to claim her, she'll be transferred to the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals once she's completely recovered.
