What reportedly started as an argument between two high-school girls ended with 19-year-old Theodore Beckles being stabbed in the abdomen during a brawl outside Independence High School on West 56th Street. Sources tell the Post that after a fight between Beckles's girlfriend and another girl, both went to their boyfriends for help. This escalated into a street brawl between students from Independence and the High School for Environmental Studies, which is in the same complex. Around 2:40 p.m., Beckles was stabbed and collapsed in the street. “He took off his shirt in the middle of the street,” says student Roscio Aguilar, according to the Daily News. “There was a big gash in his stomach.” Beckles was rushed to the hospital and died several hours later. Police haven't made any arrests and are searching for four teens who fled the scene.
