John Heilemann on NOW With Alex Wagner: Mitt Romney’s Bungled Libya Response

John Heilemann joined the NOW With Alex Wagner panel today to discuss the political fallout of attacks in Libya that left the U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three members of his staff dead — specifically how voters will perceive President Obama’s and Mitt Romney’s responses to the attacks. “These events are events that test presidential candidates in really profound ways,” Heilemann said, noting that President Obama’s response to the fall of Lehman Brothers probably sewed up the 2008 election for him. Whether this was Romney’s “Lehman moment,” Heilemann said: “As a test of being able to think on your feet, how to be serious, sober, respectful, to not seem crass, to not seem exploitative, [Mitt Romney] has failed all those tests.”
