Earlier this month, USA Today reported that former presidential candidate and sworn enemy of the nation’s debt Ross Perot was “avoiding … an endorsement in this year’s campaign.” Perot just wasn’t impressed with either candidate. “Nobody that’s running really talks about [the debt], about what we have to do and why we have to do it,” Perot said. “They would prefer not to have it discussed.” But that was two whole weeks ago, and the situation has apparently changed dramatically. Today, Perot endorsed Romney in a Des Moines Register op-ed, in which he claimed the Republican would pare back government and balance the budget. Now Romney just has to hope Perot doesn’t change his mind again before the election.
