A bus went out of control when the driver swerved to avoid a pedestrian in Hempstead Tuesday night, but the pedestrian got hit anyway as the bus careened into a house, killing a 6-year-old boy inside. About 30 people were on board the N70 Nassau Inter-County Express bus, 15 of whom (along with the pedestrian) suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the New York Times reports. The boy and his brother were getting ready for bed when the bus crashed through the wall; their mother was in the kitchen making their lunches, a family friend told the New York Daily News. "We were just talking. Then … I can't describe it."
