Video: Zuccotti Park Provided Some Much-Needed Juice for Downtowners’ Smartphones


As many downtown residents are beginning to see the light, flooded areas in the Financial District are still being pumped out, leaving residents waiting on electricity for at least another day. But when Zuccotti Park — former home to Occupy Wall Street — and some surrounding areas regained power Thursday, people still in the dark saw an opportunity for a much-needed recharge. They noticed the that trees in the park lit with twinkle lights had an extra outlet per tree. Sympathetic security guards turned the other way as people plugged in smartphones, iPads, laptops and other handheld devices, eager to get connected again. See more in our video here:
