Some People Loved That NRA Speech by Wayne LaPierre [Updated]
The effete liberal echo chamber may have gasped at the NRA's proposal today to defend schools with armed guards and assertion that "the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," but the pointed, for-the-base remarks hit home for some in Real America. Whereas we saw a batty, bullshit display of blame and distraction, others applauded.
Really. They did:
The NRA's spokesman is making some good points... Makes you think!

If the right to bear arms was taken away law abiding citizens would turn in their weapons & all the crazy criminals would keep theirs

LaPierre getting RIPPED right now, but he's right. Often, a criminal with a gun is only going to be stopped by a good guy with a gun. #NRA

NRA definitely made a good point how media is making "kindergarten killers" by video games movies tvs with graphic violence. Disynthesized

Trying to be objective....NRA making good points. Violent video games & outlandish music videos (MTV) - contribute to society's decay.

cars kill people too but they wont ban them just yet. Everyone should have the right to bear arms to protect ourselves from the state

I don't know what everyone expected the #NRA to say but it wasn't going to suddenly pull a 180. They have good points; proposal has merit.

He's right. It IS my RIGHT to protect my child. #NRApresser #NRA

Update: The Guardian has rounded up some less supportive messages from more brand-name conservatives, including former RNC chairman Michael Steele, who told MSNBC that he found the NRA comments "very haunting and very disturbing." Elsewhere:
While I agree with the NRA and LaPierre's points in substance, I'm not sure this presser was good in style a week after Newtown.
— Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) December 21, 2012
That press conference is exactly why I'm a *former* NRA member.
