Bloomberg Cracking Down on Easy-Access Painkillers

The Bloomberg administration is limiting access to really strong pain meds, banning OxyContin, methadone, and Fentanyl patches from emergency rooms, while limiting prescriptions for Vicodin and Percocet in public hospitals to three days with no refills. The move, while potentially troubling for the poor and uninsured, is meant to cut down on growing dependency, violent crime, and abuse “by teenagers and others who want to get high,” the New York Times reports. Besides, everyone knows New Yorkers feel no pain.
