Connecticut Is No Longer a Flu-Free Utopia

For whatever reason (bankers, somehow, probably), Connecticut had largely escaped the nationwide flu outbreak as of January 8, according to search data analyzed by Google Flu Trends. On yesterday’s map, Connecticut was the only state in the country with mere”moderate” level of flu infection; its bright, golden hue, alone in a sea of deep, menacing red, made it seem like a beacon of phlegm-free living.

But then New Jersey and New York and New England coughed all over Connecticut, probably out of spite, and now, as today’s map shows, it’s just as sickly as the rest of us. Welcome to Flumageddon, Connecticut.
