Queens 7-Year-Old Brought Loaded Gun to School

Police found a loaded .22-caliber handgun this morning in the backpack of a student at Wave Preparatory Elementary School in Far Rockaway, Queens, the New York Post reports. The school was locked down as authorities responded, while the 7-year-old “came out of the school early this afternoon with a female relative, and smiled cheerfully as he went into the police van with her.” CBS adds that the child “is under investigation.”
