Days after America got bored with the Manti Te'o story and moved on to other things, the mastermind who orchestrated it all, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, is speaking out in an exclusive sitdown with Dr. Phil. (According to what we assume must have been a law passed by Congress recently, syndicated talk shows you barely knew existed get first dibs on all emotional tell-all interviews.) A preview clip was aired this morning on the Today show to remind America about this thing it was obsessed with a week ago.
The biggest revelation from the clip is that Tuiasosopo is gay. Or at least that's what he said at first before dialing it back to "I am confused." Either way, Tuiasosopo claims he was, in Dr. Phil's words, "deeply, romantically in love" with Te'o, which we guess might go some way toward explaining why he pulled such a bizarre, labor-intensive prank. Dr. Phil also claims, without elaborating, that "Ronaiah had a number of life experiences that damaged this young man in some very serious ways," which is something a talking Dr. Phil doll would say when you pull its cord.
