His reasons, of course, are terrible. In court today, 25-year-old David Villalobos pleaded not guilty to charges of trespassing for jumping into the Bronx Zoo's tiger den last September, where he was mauled before being saved by zoo employees. Police recounted Villalobos' explanation:
New York City Sgt. Peter Monopoli testified .... that New York City Detective Matthew McCrosson asked Villalobos why he jumped into the tiger’s den, and he responded, “I was testing my natural fear. You would not understand, it is a spiritual thing. I wanted to be at one with the tiger,” according to the complaint.
