Jose Canseco Is Not the Only Russian Meteorite Truther

Think about it.

He might not even be the most insane (might!), but he is the most entertaining: “Governments think truth is a poison that will kill them,” tweeted the always reliable @JoseCanseco, along with the gems above, about this morning’s space event. Because this is the Internet, where every conspiracy gets its day and poorly designed website, there’s more.

Max Fisher of the Washington Post points us to the “racist, cruel, endlessly strident” politician and “radical right-wing boogie-man for the West” Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who has his own theory:

Those were not meteorites, it was Americans testing their new weapons,” Mr. Zhirinovsky confessed to journalists.
