NRA Gives Being Reasonable a Try in New Ad

By

Here's a look at the softer side of the NRA. Politico reports that in a tacit acknowledgement that its provocative tactics aren't working, the organization has put together a new ad that uses a policy-based argument. Or rather, an ad that suggests the Obama administration is scheming to confiscate Americans' guns based on an internal Justice Department memo written last month that concluded an assault weapons ban wouldn't be effective without "a gun buyback and no exceptions." Lawmakers aren't currently calling for a mandatory gun buyback and the Justice Department has yet to authenticate the document obtained by the NRA, but this is definitely a better angle than dragging the president's daughters into the debate.
