The body found in the Providence River earlier this week has been positively identified as Sunil Tripathi, ending a 38-day search for the missing Brown University student. The tragic story took a very dark turn last week when sloppy social media amateurs wrongly identified Tripathi as a suspect in the Boston bombings. “It’s a very scary thing to be on the other side of it and see how quickly our voices got drowned out and hysteria took over,” his brother Ravi said this week. No foul play is suspected in the death.
