Electric bikes are already illegal to ride in New York City and State, but the law is hard to enforce and cops rarely do. A new law passed by City Council, with Mayor Bloomberg’s signature expected, creates a very simple enforcement method directed at restaurants: Any restaurant with an electric bike on the premises, or whose delivery staff is seen riding one, would get a $100 to $250 fine, the New York Daily News reports. So much for going legal.
