Amtrak’s Wi-Fi Supposedly Works Now

Having apparently heard the “silent, hash-tagged screams” of its customers, Amtrak announced upgrades to the wi-fi on some its lines, including the Acela between Boston and Washington, D.C., along with plans to implement system-wide improvements by the end of the summer. But riders shouldn’t get too excited: “Because of the technical difficulties of maintaining a strong Internet connection on a moving train, the increase in speed would still be less than most people experience at home,” which means streaming sites like Pandora and Netflix will still be blocked. We suggest looking out the window for once.
