CNN Planning to BuzzFeed the News

BuzzFeed plans to invest a “low eight-digit sum” to develop video content in a new partnership with CNN, chief operating officer Jon Steinberg told The Wall Street Journal. The plan is to take content provided by CNN and make BuzzFeed-style videos out of it on a YouTube channel called CNNBuzzFeed, on the theory that it will help CNN reach that coveted 18-34 set and it will help BuzzFeed cover serious news. The Hollywood Reporter described the planned content as “mash-up news videos,” which sounds like internet speak for montages. The first one is live, so judge for yourself.
