The Republican Party of New York State had its annual dinner Wednesday night, and as you may have heard, Rep. Peter King boycotted it. You may have heard that because there was plenty of coverage making it clear he was boycotting the dinner in protest of its keynote speaker, Sen. Ted Cruz, of Texas, who voted against federal storm recovery aid. Joe Lhota did not have such luck. He also skipped the dinner in protest of Cruz, but according to Daily Politics, state GOP chairman Ed Cox told everyone in attendance Lhota was absent due to a medical procedure. “I don’t know why Ed Cox wasn’t telling the truth when he said it was a medical procedure,” Lhota said. Actually, Lhota was having a procedure, but “the procedure was ‘minor’ and had nothing to do with his no-show, Lhota said.” They probably should have made that clearer in the press release.
