Is This Used Morgue Refrigerator Your Next Hot Weather Impulse Purchase?

Hey New Yorkers: It’s hot out there, right? Hot enough to make you want to do something a little crazy? Assuming that’s the case, you’re in luck! New York’s Office of General Services, which is apparently responsible for getting rid of the city’s unwanted junk, is selling a used steel morgue refrigerator on eBay. The ad says the creepy-but-literally cool item “may have some signs of cosmetic wear,” but it is “operational and functions as intended.” The auction’s winner must be handy enough disassemble the fridge and truck it away from the Manhattan Psychiatric Center, where it is currently located. At eight feet tall and six feet wide, it can hold almost 2,000 twelve-ounce cans of beer. And, with the bidding at only $475 (as of Saturday afternoon), the four-drawer unit might just be a good, cheap alternative to the beach house and your friends couldn’t afford to rent this summer, so long as you and your friends are not claustrophobic.
