Sadly, the rise in anti-gay hate crimes the city saw last month is continuing. Wednesday night in Prospect Park, makeup artist Kevin Kiadii — one of the men who accused former Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash of sexual abuse last winter — was attacked by five men who yelled anti-gay slurs at him and a friend as they kicked and punched him repeatedly. The men have since been apprehended. The New York Post also reports that in a separate incident, an unidentified man was punched twice by a man who made anti-gay comments at him aboard a J train. So much for hoping this trend wouldn't continue into summer.
