Eliot Spitzer Does Not Think the Thing He Did Should Be Legal

By

Well, actually, it's complicated: Spitzer does kind of seem as if he would be okay with legalizing the thing he did (many, many times) — exchanging money for sex with another consenting adult — if it could occur in some kind of hypothetical vacuum. But, he tells MSNBC, prostitution is "integrally related with other aspects of criminal behavior, so I'm not sure I'm ready to go there."

So, just to be clear: Comptroller Spitzer would not legalize prostitution, not only because he doesn't want to but because he would be a comptroller.
