The Facebook founder has announced the creation of Internet.org, a coalition of tech companies — including Ericsson, MediaTek, Nokia, Opera, Qualcomm, and Samsung — that hopes to bring the Internet to the approximately four billion humans who currently cannot get online. The group plans to lower the cost of delivering access to mobile devices in developing countries by creating more efficient smartphones and networks and "reducing the amount of data required to use most apps and Internet experiences." In other news, the domain name Internet.org was somehow still available until very recently.
