Rochus Misch, the bodyguard who expressed loyalty to late German dictator Adolf Hitler as recently as eight years ago, died on Thursday at 96 after a "short illness." He was the last surviving witness to Hitler's funeral. In a 2005 interview he called the man who led the mass slaughter of 6 million Jews "a wonderful boss" and said, "He was no brute. He was no monster. He was no superman." Misch insisted Hitler had never brought up the Final Solution in his presence. "Never."
