Joe Lhota Is Your Republican Nominee for Mayor

By

As expected, former MTA chief and Giuliani deputy Joe Lhota has become the first person in New York history to win the Republican nomination for mayor while running on an anti-kitten platform, coming away with around 52 percent of the vote compared to 41 percent for supermarket magnate John Catsimatidis.

In his victory speech, Lhota called on the Republican party to unify for the general election and criticized Bill de Blasio, without naming him directly, for his "class warfare" campaign and his "attempt to divide our city."

For his part, Catsimatidis was pushed off-stage during his rambling concession speech by his wife, who told him, "Okay honey, you're not really moving this along fast enough."
