Curbed Network Sells for Up to $30 Million

Vox Media, owner of TheVerge, SB Nation, and Polygon, is adding some new high-profile blogs to its roster. It’s inked a deal to buy the Curbed Network for a combination of cash and stock worth anywhere from $10 million to $20 million. Obviously, it’s too early to know if the content or look of those Curbed sites is going to change at all, but Curbed founder Lockhart Steele told Fortune that he would stay in New York and oversee Curbed’s sites as managing editor. Vox just recently raised $34 million in funding. CEO Jim Bankoff told the New York Times the company wanted Curbed to help it reach “otherwise hard to reach young, affluent, social consumers.” So clearly the site as it exists now is doing something right.
