Time magazine named Dante de Blasio one of its sixteen most influential teenagers of 2013, writing that “Dante’s now-iconic Afro has starred in a campaign ad, inspired a New York Times Style section piece, and even gained President Obama’s attention.” Wait, Dante’s hair starred in that campaign ad? The spot arguably turned the tide of the election for his father, making Dante a legitimately influential teen, but his hair didn’t do that. Dante did it by delivering lines that resonated with voters. It’s a good look, sure, but give the kid a little credit for speaking as well.
