Whole Upstate Island Is Cheaper Than Average Manhattan Apartment

The New York Post noticed a unique real estate listing in Patterson, NY: A private island in Putnam Lake, complete with four-bedroom home, for $995,000, about half a million less than the average listing price in Manhattan right now. The Post makes the case that you could, conceivably, commute the 1.5 hours to the city. But since the island can only be accessed by rowboat, that journey would get pretty darned tiresome in the non-daylight-savings half of the year. If only the A ran up there.
