A spokesperson from the Littleton Adventist Hospital in Colorado announced on Sunday that Claire Davis, a victim in the recent shooting at Arapahoe High School, has died from her injuries. The 17-year-old had been in a coma since December 13, when her classmate Karl Halverson Pierson shot her point blank in the face during his attack on the school. Entering the building with a shotgun and several Molotov cocktail bombs, Pierson was reportedly looking to exact revenge after "losing his coveted spot on the debate team." He shot himself 80 seconds later.
Davis's family addressed their supporters on the hospital’s Facebook page, writing, "Last week was truly a paradox in that we lost our daughter, yet we witnessed the wonderful love that exists in the world through the tremendous outpouring of support we received," adding, "The grace, laughter and light she brought to this world will not be extinguished by her death; to the contrary, it will only get stronger.”
