UES Goes Unplowed, Obviously Due to De Blasio’s Hatred of the Rich

Governor Cuomo threatened Bill de Blasio’s dream of raising taxes on the wealthiest New Yorkers today, and the Post reports the mayor quickly found another way to take revenge on the rich. According to the city’s map of snow plow activity, streets in the Upper East Side are being plowed less frequently, if at all. “He is trying to get us back. He is very divisive and political,” writer Molly Jong-Fast told the paper. Another resident called De Blasio “crazy” and declared, “We need Mayor Bloomberg back!”

As Jong-Fast explained, De Blasio picked an absurd way to punish the one-percenters, since New Yorkers from all walks of life were affected. “We have rich people, middle class people, and housing projects. We have it all,” she said.

But what other explanation could there be? New York City Sanitation Commissioner John Doherty claims plows were slower in the neighborhood due to traffic jams, and the online map wasn’t accurately reflecting which streets they’d reached. “One of the problems was that the salt spreader in that area, the GPS system was not working,” Doherty said, according to CBS New York. A likely story. Somebody call Bloomberg and tell him we’ve learned our lesson.
