Hasidic Developer Kidnapped in Williamsburg

Menachem Stark, a 39-year-old businessman well-known in Brooklyn’s Satmar Hasidic community, was apparently duct-taped and thrown into a kidnapper’s minivan while leaving his office near the Williamsburg Bridge before midnight on Thursday. When he failed to come home, his wife contacted the Shomrim, an Orthodox neighborhood watch force, which has since turned the case over to the NYPD.

Stark was reportedly carrying about $4,000 in cash at the time and struggled with his two captors for “several minute” before being driven away. His brother disputes that he was carrying a large amount of cash, and has offered a $100,000 reward for his safe return, no questions asked.
