Frat Sued Over Harvard-Yale Tailgating Death

At the 2011 rivalry game, a U-Haul carrying kegs for Yale's Sigma Phi Epsilon hit three people, killing a 30-year-old woman. Now her family is suing, and since the national leadership has distanced itself from the unincorporated New Haven chapter, 86 current and former SPE brothers are facing the multimillion-dollar suit. "It's ugly, and it's unusual," said a lawyer for the victim's family, who believes the larger organization will ultimately be responsible. "I'm sober, I'm sober," the 21-year-old driver told police at the time.
