In a culmination of several issues dogging Mayor Bill de Blasio's administration in its first few weeks (pedestrian safety and snow removal), a 73-year-old man crossing mid-block in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, died on Monday after he was hit by a snowplow. The privately operated vehicle was backing up when it hit Stanislav Chernyshov shortly before noon, the New York Post reported. It's nasty out there, folks. Best to walk and drive defensively until this snow passes.
