Pretty Much No One in Greenpoint Uses Condoms

Fire up your Girls jokes, people: According to a recently released report from the Health Department, 86 percent of Greenpoint men said that they did not wear condoms in 2012, putting the cool young person-filled North Brooklyn enclave last in the city’s prophylactic-usage rankings. Other places weren’t much better: 80 percent of Ridgewood and Forest Hills dudes said they didn’t use condoms in 2012, as did 78.7 percent of those in Northern Staten Island, and 78.4 percent on the Upper West Side.

People are considerably more responsible in Central Harlem, Lower Manhattan, Flushing, Clearview, Bed-Stuy, and Crown Heights, where only about 40 percent of men said that they didn’t wrap it up during the year the survey was taken. Of course, all this unsafe sex went down well before the Health Department debuted its flashy new free-condom design. If appealing packaging won’t get New Yorkers to take their heath more seriously, nothing will.
