Can Pope Francis Bring Peace to Congress?

Almost definitely not. Even so, Francis — a pontiff whom liberals and conservatives can like, to varying degrees — has been invited to address the House and Senate. House Speaker John Boehner wrote him a letter requesting his presence "as head of state of the Holy See," and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi issued a statement co-signing Boehner's invitation. Earlier today, Francis tweeted, "Please pray for me," a message that seemed intended to acknowledge the first anniversary of his move to the Vatican. Now we know he was just contemplating the idea of going to D.C.
