Residents of the “Ontario cottage country” town of Bracebridge got a bit of a thrill on Friday afternoon, when recovering crack-smoking mayor Rob Ford visited a dry cleaner and a Bank of Montreal branch. Always unable to resist being photographed (both with his knowledge and without it), Ford posed for pictures with locals. Of course, those photos wound up on various social media platforms, forcing Ford’s team to once again confirm that, yes, he is still in rehab. Mayoral brother Doug Ford told CBC that Rob briefly left his treatment center under the supervision of the facility’s staff “to address a matter that would have been a ‘major distraction’” had it been left unaddressed. (His activities in Bracebridge seem to have been limited to doing some banking, dropping off a navy blue suit for cleaning, and telling people that he was still enjoying getting clean.) Meanwhile, witnesses told the Globe and Mail that Ford appeared “happy and jovial” and “exactly the same as he does on television.” Except, you know, sober.
