Aereo Stopped Working This Morning

In a blog post published this morning, CEO Chet Kanojia said that Aereo would “pause” operations at 11:30 a.m., refund users their last paid month, and “consult with the court and map out [their] next steps.” What he’s referring to is the Supreme Court’s Wednesday ruling, which effectively killed Aereo, the start-up that brought broadcast television to the post-television millennial set through the use of itty-bitty antennae. The liberal wing of the Supreme Court just wasn’t buying Aereo’s argument that they were just providing new equipment. This just means that you’ll have to suffer through thousands of commercials in order to watch the next season of The Voice on Hulu.
