Now Everyone Can Follow the CIA for a Change

The Central Intelligence Agency, whose employees have likely spent a great deal of time lurking on every social-media platform under the sun, has finally joined Facebook and Twitter in order to “more directly engage with the public and provide information on the CIA’s mission, history, and other developments,” according to a press release from director John Brennan.

We are the Nation’s first line of defense,” explains the agency’s Twitter bio. “We accomplish what others cannot accomplish and go where others cannot go.” While that last bit is generally true, it certainly doesn’t apply to Twitter, where every conspiracy theorist and garden variety crazy person will be able to share all of their observations about JFK, Area 51, and everything else via the account’s replies and mentions. Have fun, guys.
