Other than sounding like Brooklynite, a word no one really uses, the cheesy superhero BrooklyKnight had more to do with a porn star than it did with a team called the Nets. “We put a lot of effort into the BrooklyKnight,” the team announced mercifully today, “but we’ve decided to go in a different direction.” It’s for the best.
Seriously, look at this thing:
Listed at six two, 210 pounds, landing at Barclays Center via the School of Hard Knocks (seriously?), the “Power Ranger-esque” character may not even be replaced. (Nets does not exactly lend itself to cool mascot options, and clearly the imaginations over there are lacking.)
The BrooklyKnight lasted two seasons, and history will not remember him, except for maybe this:
