72-Year-Old Sucker Punched While Minding His Own Business on a Monday Evening in the West Village

In a random attack sure to revitalize the local news panic over the so-called "knockout game," an elderly man was decked for no reason yesterday as he walked down Jane Street in Manhattan. Chilling surveillance video captured a much younger man waiting for an approaching victim with his back turned before wheeling around and landing a sucker punch on an unsuspecting 72-year-old. It was 5:30 p.m.

The suspect, thought to be in his 20s, then runs across the street to meet a friend who watched the whole thing. The jaywalking is the least of his worries.
