According to top mechanic Timur Mukhodinov, approximately 1,900 of New York’s 6,000 bulky blue bicycles are awaiting repairs in a Brooklyn warehouse. (A rep for NYC Bicycle Share says that the number of ailing machines is closer to 1,184 bikes.) “We don’t know if [the number] will ever meet zero, because that’s something that’s fueled by the users every single day,” said Mukhodinov, whose shop fixes 200 bikes each day.
