As previously reported by New York’s Gabriel Sherman in his profile of CNN president Jeff Zucker, the network will lay off about 170 people in the next two weeks, in addition to another 130 voluntary buyouts for cuts totaling 8.5 percent of its workforce. CNN Money reports that parent company Turner Broadcasting will eliminate 1,475 positions in all as part of a plan it’s calling Turner 2020. “Zucker recently told executives they would have to ‘do less with less,’” according to Sherman. “There is no silver bullet,” Zucker said. “It’s not about a path to No. 1 here.” The rest of the story is here.
