It’s a beautiful Sunday morning, so here is a sad story: 31-year-old Kristin Rendina was hospitalized on Friday night after being hit by a black Jeep Wrangler, the driver of which then sped off. The incident occurred at around 11:30 p.m. at Avenue Z and West 2nd Street in Gravesend, where Rendina had knelt in the street to care for her miniature pinscher, who had just been struck by another hit-and-run driver. The dog died, and its owner is now in critical but stable condition with what she described as multiple “crushed” ribs and a collapsed lung.
