Tourists Just Can’t Stop Climbing the Brooklyn Bridge

For the third time this year (that we know of), a European tourist has scaled the Brooklyn Bridge. And much like the jorts-wearing Russian who climbed up there in August, 23-year-old Frenchman Jonathon Souid wanted some photos to commemorate his adrenaline rush.

The New York Daily News reports that, at around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Souid was seen hopping a four-foot fence on the bridge’s pedestrian walkway, making his way up a beam that hangs over Manhattan-bound traffic, and aiming his camera at “a locked security gate on the cable blocking trespassers from ascending to the top of the bridge.”

It didn’t take the NYPD too long to bust him: The New York Post reports that a cop spotted Souid a few minutes into his stunt and ordered him to get down. Once he was back on the ground, he was arrested and taken to the 84th Precinct for questioning.

According to the Post, Souid arrived in the United States on November 6 and was scheduled to fly home today. Instead, he’ll be sticking around for a court date and possible jail time. If you’re an out-of-towner (or just a misguided New York City resident) looking to climb the Brooklyn Bridge, think like a German conceptual artist and at least try to do it at night.
