The New Republic Loses 4 More Staffers

The New Republic’s leadership is trying to move past the mass exodus sparked by the departure of editor Franklin Foer earlier this month, but a few employees saved some unpleasant news for the holidays. Politico reports that managing editor Linda Kinstler, deputy editor Amanda Silverman, assistant literary editor Becca Rothfeld, and reporter Yishai Schwartz have resigned. Sources tell Politico that like the other staffers, the four are quitting over their frustrations with the magazine’s new direction under owner Chris Hughes and CEO Guy Vidra. TNR editors who didn’t quit with their colleagues were reportedly given $1,000 to $2,000 bonuses, but apparently they should have offered a little more.
