A BMW hit another car then slammed into a packed MTA bus in Brooklyn on Wednesday afternoon, leaving three people in critical condition and 22 others injured. The accident took place at 3:55 p.m. at Utica Avenue and Clarendon Road in East Flatbush. Surveillance video obtained by News 12 Brooklyn shows the black BMW collide with a Nissan Altima coming out of a parking lot, then swerve into the front driver’s side of the bus. “It was terrible. The two cars were to blame. One woman pulled out of the parking lot and got hit by the other car,” Muhammad Abdulbasit, who witnessed the crash, told the New York Post. “It was so quick. The bus driver did nothing wrong. After the crash, I saw people on the bus with blood all over them.”

Sources said the three people in critical condition were riding in the two cars, and three others suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Officials said 19 bus passengers, including the bus driver, had minor injuries.

The speed limit on Utica Avenue was recently reduced from 30 to 25 miles per hour under Mayor de Blasio’s plan to reduce pedestrian deaths, but witness Lisa Pendelton said, “The car was speeding.” “It was bad — the poor people on the bus,” she added. “I wanted to go over I could hear moaning and screaming in the bus. I had to look away.” The incident is still under investigation, but police sources said it’s likely the BMW driver will be charged.
